Anatase after Titanite - Sold

This specimen comes from an altered granitic pegmatite once mined for zircon. A former titanite crystal, 1.7 cm, has changed into pale yellow anatase. Shepard (1856) first noted these pseudomorphs, dubbing them xanthixane. Part of the Charles Trantham (1936-2020) estate.
