Inesite is a calcium manganese silicate originally found in Germany (Schneider, 1887). The name inesite comes from the Greek for flesh fibers, which it resembles. Wan & Ghose (1978) determined that inesite is a double chain silicate, the first example of its type. The mineral forms platy crystals to 7 by 5 mm, arranged in tight subparallel groups (fans), covering a friable matrix. Very attractive. This specimen suffers from chipping of some of the thin crystals, as seen in the photographs. Displays well! And the color is outstanding!
