Sarkinite - Sold

Sarkinite is a manganese arsenate, dimorphous with eveite. Sjögren (1884) named sarkinite from the Greek "made of flesh", which certainly describes the color and luster of this specimen. The massive sarkinite measures 2.3 by 1.3 cm. Quite attractive!

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. He obtained the piece in 1955. There is a label indicating that this piece was in the Colonel Washington Roebling collection. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
