Parahopeite is a hydrated zinc phosphate mineral originally described by Spencer (1908). This specimen features crystals to 9 mm, in isolated clusters on limonite gossan matrix. Quite fine for the species. The parahopeite crystals are bladed and serrated, which is quite different than the much more common trabuttite from this locality. The parahopeite is nearly colorless, so the brown coloration of the matrix shows through the crystals.
