- 5.4 × 3.0 × 2.9 cm – Miniature specimen (fits into a 5 cm cube)
Aschamalmite is a lead bismuth sulfide, and a sulfosalt (Moelo et al., 2008). Mumme et al. (1983) named the mineral after Aschalm Alp (Ashalm Alm), the source of this specimen. Aschamalmite is chemically similar (and likely polymorphous) with heyrovskite (Callegari & Boiocchi, 2009).
Aschamalmite forms a radiating spray, 1.0 cm across, in quartz matrix. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
