Pseudomalachite is a hydrous copper phosphate, named for its resemblance to malachite. German mineralogist Friedrich Hausmann (1782–1859) assigned this species its current name in his 1813 Handbuch der Mineralogie. Much psueodmalachite is botryoidal or massive; free-standing crystals are unusual for the species.
Psuedomalachite here forms free-standing crystals to 0.8 mm. The matrix is iron-stained quartz. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
