- 5.9 × 3.8 × 2.5 cm – Miniature specimen (fits into a 5 cm cube)
Guimarãesite is a calcium zinc beryllium phosphate, and a member of the roscherite group. Chukanov et al. (2007) named the mineral after Djalma Guimarães (1894-1973), a Brazilian mineralogist known for his contributions to the topographic mineralogy of his homeland.
Green-gray spheres of mixed guimarãesite-zanazziite-greifenstenite to 4 mm formed alongside prismatic eosphorite crystals to 6 mm. Guimarãesite forms the exterior of the spheres with zanazziite-greifenstenite cores. The matrix is a microcline crystal, typical of a granitic pegmatite. Carries a Luiz Menezes label. Good piece! From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
