Papagoite is a copper calcium aluminum silicate. Hutton & Vlisidis (1960) named the mineral after the Papago Reservation, which surrounds the type locality of Ajo. These Native American lands are now recognized as the Tohono O'odham Nation.
Papagoite forms brilliant blue crystals to 1.5 mm in two pockets on this specimen. The papagoite crystals were exposed by removing brown calcite with a mild organic acid, allowing the preservation of its luster. The color and quality are outstanding!
