Kapundaite is a hydrous sodium calcium iron phosphate. Mills et al. (2010) named the species for its type locality at Kapunda. This specimen is from the type locality.
Kapundaite forms straw yellow fibrous aggregates, and a velvety lining in vugs. Minor dark green natrodufrénite is also present. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
