Cosalite

Cosalite is a lead bismuth sulfide, and a member of the sulfosalt family (Moëlo et al., 2008). The mineral name recalls its type locality at Cosalá, Mexico (Genth, 1868).

Cosalite forms lead gray acicular crystals to 1.7 cm, in parallel growth, on muscovite matrix. Later pyrite crystals to 3 mm and sphalerite crystals to 1 cm are also present. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
