Ikranite ia a complex iron zirconium silicate, and a member of the eudialyte group. Chukanov et al. (2003) named the mineral after the Moscow based Institut Kristallografii Rossiyskoy Akademii Nauk (IK RAN), now called the Shubnikov Institute of Crystallography.
From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
