Olmiite - Sold

Olmiite is a calcium manganese silicate hydroxide related to poldervaartite, and a member of the pyroxenoid group. Bonazzi et al. (2007) named the mineral after Filippo Olmi (1959-2005), mineralogist at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) in Florence, Italy.

This piece is a flat plate of olmiite crystals to 1.0 cm; the crystals have translucent cores and transparent surfaces, make them appear like porcelain. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
