Tlapallite is a calcium copper sulfate tellurite tellurate. Williams & Duggan (1978) named the mineral using the Nahuatl word for paint, since the mineral resembles paint on rock. Missen et al. (2019) solved the crystal structure of tlapallite, and revised its chemical formula.
Splotches of green-blue tlapallite on matrix. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
