McGovernite is a rare zinc manganese arsenite arsenate silicate. Palache & Bauer (1927) named the species in honor of Franklin mineral collector James McGovern (1861-1915).
Mcgovernite forms red-brown scales with pearly luster, covering one side of characteristic franklinite-willemite-calcite matrix. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
