Murmanite is a hydrous sodium titanium silicate. Gutkova (1930) named murmanite after the Murman coast of the Kola Peninsula, nearby its co-type localities. Crystal structure analysis by Khalilov (1989) established the currently accepted chemical formula.
Murmanite forms pearly lilac plates to 1.0 × 0.7 cm in a compact gray matrix. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
