Ferronordite-(Ce) is a sodium strontium cerium iron silicate. Pekov et al. (1998) named ferronordite-(Ce) for its iron content and relationship to nordite, which Gerasimovsky (1941) originally named for its "northern origins." Ferronordite-(Ce) is a member of the nordite supergroup announced in 2021 (International Mineralogical Association CNMNC newsletter 60).
Ferronordite-(Ce) forms a radiating aggregate, 8 mm across, in ussingite-chkalovite matrix. A metamict dark brown belb of steenstrupine-(Ce) is also present. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona. A label from LBL Minerals accompanies this specimen.
