Pyrite and pyrrhotite are both iron sulfides. This is a peculiar specimen features an octahedral pyrite crystal, 12 mm on edge. Amazingly, the massive pyrrhotite matrix separated from the pyrite crystal with major damage; their is micro-chipping along the edges of the pyrite crystal. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona. Laskowski self-collected this specimen May 25, 1979.
