Phenakite - Sold

Phenakite is a beryllium silicate structurally related to willemite. The mineral was named for its ability to deceive, especially with its likeness to quartz (Nordenskjöld, 1834).

Phenakite here forms a prominent 10 by 9 mm crysal on a microcline crystal fragment. The crystal form is rhombohedral, with vicinal modifications. Smaller crystals appear elsewhere on the matrix. This specimen was part of the Charles Trantham (1936-2020) estate. A Bob Roots (1891-1971) label accompanies this piece.
