Anglesite - Sold

Anglesite is simple lead sulfate; the mineral has the same crystal structure as both baryte and celestine. While known since the late 18th century, it waited until Beudant (1832) to assign this mineral its current name. The name anglesite denotes the type locality at Angelesy, Wales, UK.

Anglesite here forms blocky crystals to 1.7 cm on compact gossan matrix. This specimens dates back to the 1960s. This locality produces some of the finest crystals of anglesite in Mexico, but not the largest. Classic for Mexico and no longer produced.
