Capgaronnite is a rare silver mercury sulfide chloride. The name denotes the neotype locality: the Cap Garonne mine in France. In the original description, Mason et al. (1992) note the similarities to material from Australia. Later work has confirmed the identification.
Capgaronnite forms sooty gray-black veins in kaolinite matrix with yellow iodargyrite. This is a large and rich example.
