Manganotantalite is a manganese tantalum oxide mineral. Most samples have minor iron and niobium contents. Nordenskiöld (1877) named the mineral after its composition. Manganotantalite is indicative of an evolved pegmatite that concentrated manganese over iron and tantalum over niobium.
This is a flattened crystal, showing "V-twinning" typical of the species. A complete floater. 1.07 cts.
