Schultenite - Sold


Schultenite is a lead arsenate mineral (Spencer & Mountain, 1926). The mineral name honors Baron August de Schultén (1856-1912), chemist, University of Helsinki, who first synthesized the compound. Schultenite here forms a 5 mm colorless-white prismatic cleavage. The matrix is white quartz and massive tennantite, and crystallized zincolivenite. This is a well known copper arsenate assmeblage form the seocnd oxidation zone of the Tsumeb deposit.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill's collection card and label ship with the specimen.
