Scorodite - Sold

Scorodite is an iron arsenate mineral. The mineral name is derived from the Greek σκοροδιον for garlic, in allusion to smell created upon heating (Breithaupt, 1818). This specimen consists of a few intergrown scorodite crystals to 1.5 cm. The crystals grew tightly together, and show contacting along their lengths. The crystal tips, however, are well developed, lustrous, gemmy and blue!

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill's collection card and label ship with the specimen.
