Rajite with Mackayite - Sold

Rajite is a rare anhydrous copper tellurite, discovered by geologist and mineral collector Robert A. Jenkins. Williams (1979) made an anagram of the initials of Mr. Jenkins, naming the mineral rajite in his honor.

Rajite forms green crystalline areas, 5 mm across, on volcanic matrix. There is also crystalline brown mackayite present, providing contrast to the green rajite. Some of the rajite appear pseudomorphous; perhaps the mineral formed by dehydration of teineite. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill's collection card and label ship with the specimen.
