Mounanaite is a lead iron vanadate mineral, part of the tsumcorite group. Cesbron & Fritsche (1969) named the mineral after the Mounana mine, the type locality. Mounanaite forms a crust of orange-brown color, underlying small chervetite crystals and yellow rosettes of francevillite. Rare stuff!
This item was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill obtained this specimen from the Sorbonne in 1970. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
