Diaboleite is a lead copper hydroxychloride mineral. Spencer & Mountain (1923) named the mineral for its similar coloration but chemical distinctness "dia" from boleite. This specimen is a iron-staining spongy silica mass with an open cavity hosting tabular cobalt blue diaboleite crystals to 3 mm.
This mineral specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. This specimens comes with earlier Shortmann's Minerals and Burminco mineral labels. Merrill's label also ships with the specimen.
