Långbanite - Sold

Långbanite is the namesake mineral for this exotic mineral locality. At the time of this writing, Långban is the type locality for an incredible 71 species. Flink (1888) first described this mineral, and its exact chemistry remained a matter of debate until Moore et al. (1991) solved the crystal structure. This matrix of crystallized aegerine hosts pockets with numerous black långbanite crystals to 2 mm present. A rich specimen of very well crystallized långbanite.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. He obtained the piece in 1956. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
