Nickelskutterudite - Sold

Nickelskutterudite is a nickel arsenide with cubic symmetry (Roseboom, 1962). The mineral here forms cubo-octahedral crystals to 1.8 cm with a bit of green annabergite present. This is a fine example of the nickel analog of the more widely available mineral skutterudite. Careful trimming of this specimen would yield an outstanding thumbnail specimen. At one time, such specimens may have carried the designation chloanthite. However, this is the currently accepted nomenclature. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
