Blatonite is a rare uranyl carbonate named after Norbert Blaton, Belgian crystallographer (Vochten & Deliens, 1998). Blatonite forms yellow transparent needles in association with gypsum. This specimen shows well isolated crystals charmingly associated with a few spheres of malachite. This material came from Patrick Haynes, the noted field collector in the Colorado Plateau.
