Kobeite-(Y) - Sold

Kobeite forms submetallic black blades to 1.7 cm long embedded in radiation damaged and slightly iron stained microcline feldspar matrix. Takabu et al. (1950) named the mineral after the original locality in Kobe; there is an English abstract of the paper. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited.
