Willemite - Sold

The Guchab mine is located near Tsumeb and carries some of the same minerals, such as willemite, smithsonite and dioptase. Long closed, this locality is generally unrecognized as many of its specimens are simply labeled Tsumeb when sold in large lots. This is a large matrix with a undulating coverage of colorless willemite needles to 2 mm. The silkiness of the crystallization is quite appealling. Willemite is a simple zinc silicate with rhombohedral symmetry, like phenakite. The matrix is quite heavy, and likely is massive smithsonite. Old material.
