Magnussonite - Sold


Magnussonite is a complex manganese arsenite mineral with cubic symmetry (Gabrielson, 1956). The mineral forms green spotches, to 5 mm across, on stained dolomite matrix. The mineral name honors N. H. Magnusson (1890-1976), Director of the Geological Survey of Sweden, who authored the first comprehnesive study of the Långban ore field in 1930. This is an extreme rarity at Långban.

This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. He obtained the piece in 1959. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
