- 3.2 by 3.2 by 1.2 cm – Thumbnail specimen (fits into a 3 cm cube)
Maucherite is a nickel arsenide mineral, which has a metallic coppery appearance. The mineral name honors Wilhelm Maucher (1879-1930), a mineral dealer based in Munich (Grünling, 1911). Maucherite here forms feathery aggregates with nickeline crystals. The two minerals have a very similar color, but differing habits. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill''s collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
