Valentinite - Sold

Valentinite is an orthorhombic oxide of antimony. The name honors honor Basilius Valentinus, 15th century alchemist, who studied antimony long ago (Haidinger, 1845). This specimen features radiating crystals of valentinite forming a compact mass. There is an old German script label from the Schneider collection accompanying this specimen. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited, obtained in 1956. Merrill's collection card and label also ship with the specimen.
