Lazulite - Sold

Lazulite is a magnesium phosphate mineral named for its blue color (Klaproth, 1795). A minor content of iron in substitution for magnesium causes the blue color. This classic specimen features blue dipyramid embedded in quartzite matrix from Georgia. The largest crystal is 1.1 cm high (out of the matrix) and quite sharp. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited.
