Malhmoodite - Sold

Malhmoodite is a calcium zirconium phosphate named in honor of Bertha K. Malhmood of the United States Geological Survey (Milton et al. 1993). In the original description the mineral name and the honoree's family name were misspelled, causing the the International Mineralogical Association to later issue a spelling correction (Grice and Ferraris, 2003). Malhmoodite forms white spherulites on pyroxene. This specimen was part of the personal collection of Ralph Merrill, proprietor of the prolific mail order business Minerals Unlimited. Merrill obtained this specimen came from Al Kidwell, whose label ships with the specimen as well.
