Pyrosmalite-(Fe) is an iron silicate mineral originally found at Nordmarken, Sweden (Karsten, 1808). On this specimen, pyrosmalite-(Fe) forms hexagonal crystals to 3 mm on hematite ore. Pyrosmalite forms in metasomatic environments in the presence of chlorine. This specimen has an attached Foote label, which adds to the historic feel of the specimen. This piece was part of the Ralph Merrill collection, proprietor of Minerals Unlimited. Purchase includes Merrill's catalog card (and label). Also carries J.B. Nichols and Wards' labels.
