Scottyite is a recent new mineral named in honor of Michael "Scotty" Scott, beenfecator of the RRUFF project (Yang et al. 2013). This specimen has associated richterite, wesselsite, and pectolite. Wesselsite is another are also a rare copper strontium silicate named after the locality (Giester and Rieck, 1996). Scottyite forms intense purplish blue masses with conchoidal fracture whereas wesselsite forms deep blue cleavage plates.
