Bergenite is a rare calcium barium uranium phosphate, named after the city near its original discovery. Locock and Burns (2003) solved the crystal structure and demonstrated a relationship with phosphuranylite. Bergenite here forms straw yellow crystals to 1 mm on a fracture surface of a quartz matrix. This specimen comes from Ralph Merrill collection, proprietor of Minerals Unlimited. Purchase includes Merrill's catalog card (and label), accessioned in 1965.
