Carrollite is a copper cobalt thiospinel orignally named after the original occurrence in Carroll County, Maryland (Faber, 1852). Carrollite here forms a solid aggregate of rounded grains with a green alteration. The base of the specimen is sawn. A very rich specimen from the type locality. This specimen comes from Ralph Merrill collection, proprietor of Minerals Unlimited. Purchase includes Merrill's catalog card (and label), accessioned in 1954. Also carries a Wards label.
