Hummerite - Sold

Hummerite is a vanadium bronze mineral found in the roll-type deposits of the Colorado Plateau, named after its occurrence at the Hummer mine (Weeks et al. 1951). Hummerite is a hydrated potassium magnesium vanadium oxide (Hughes et al. 2002). Hummerite here forms orange patches to 2 by 1.5 cm on a fracture in sandstone. There is a nice pocket of microcrystals on one side of the specimen. This specimen comes from Ralph Merrill collection, proprietor of Minerals Unlimited. Purchase includes Merrill's catalog card (and label), accessioned in 1959.
