Epistilbite is an uncommon zeolite mineral, originally described by Gustav Rose in 1826. Rose differentiated the mineral from stilbite from careful goniometric measurements. This specimen is an amygdale of of mostly transparent epistilbite crystals to 8 mm across and 2 mm thick. Interesting geode like formation. This specimen comes from Ralph Merrill collection, proprietor of Minerals Unlimited. Purchase includes Merrill's catalog card, indicating purchase from George Burnham (Burminco) in 1951. Carries a Burminco label and Merrill collection label.
