Betafite - Sold

Betafite is nominally a calcium titanium oxide mineral, but often contains uranium, niobium and tantalum. The mineral name denotes the type locality near Betafo, Madagascar. The nomenclature of the group has recently been confounded with a complicated new nomenclature system (Atencio et al. 2010). This is a flat octahedral crystal section, with an incomplete backside. The faces are a bit rough, but the color is strong yellow, possibly from a liandratite coating. These are not commonly found; old collection material.
