Dunn et al. (1987) described wendwilsonite is a new calcium magnesium arsenate, naming the mineral in honor of Wendell E. Wilson, the editor and publisher of the Mineralogical Record. Bou Azzer is a co-type locality. Fortunately for the mineral collector, wendwilsonite commonly contains a bit of cobalt impurity, imparting a pink color. This specimen is a dolomite matrix with a cavity hosting crystals to 5 mm. The crystals have a complex triclinic habit, and a rich magenta color. This may trim into a choice thumbnail.
