Tarbuttite - Sold

Tarbuttite is a rare zinc phosphate mineral found in quality specimens in two localities: the Skorpion mine, Namibia and Broken Hill, Zambia. The Skorpion mine is one of the world's largest zinc mines, and features an unusual zinc clay ore. In pockets in this ore, phosphate has combined with the zinc to form tarbuttite. Unlike the Zambian material, this tarbuttite incorporates a minor copper impurity which causes a pastel green color. This is a choice example with separated, curved crystals to 1.3 cm. From the 2007 find, which is mentioned in Von Bezing et al. (2008) Namibia: Minerals and Localities.
