Nifontovite

First described from a skarn in Russia, nifontovite remained an obscure mineral specie for years. A specimen brought back from Mexico by Fred Pough in the 1950s proved to have remarkable crystals of the mineral to 4.5 cm. Until another discovery in 2008, the certainty of the occurrence in Mexico was open to debate. This is a fine cluster, with a large terminated crystal, 3.5 by 0.7 cm, accessorized with additional crystals attached near the termination.
