- 4.6 by 4.0 by 1.7 cm – Miniature specimen (fits into a 5 cm cube)
Gaudefroyite is a calcium manganese borate mineral with hexagonal symmetry, originally described from Morocco. Later finds in South Africa set new standards for the mineral, forming brilliant black crystals. In this case, the crystals reach 5 mm, and have a contrasting matrix of brick red andradite crystals. The color contrast is quite appealing, distinguishing this specimen from others.
