- 6.4 × 3.6 × 2.6 cm – Miniature specimen (fits into a 5 cm cube)
Famatinite is a copper antimony sulfide, and a sulfosalt species (Moëlo et al., 2008). The mineral name recalls the mountain range of its type occurrence in Argentina (Stelzner, 1873).
This specimen is a nondescript dark grey metallic mass of famatinite, with a distinct red-brown tinge. As famatinite lacks cleavage, its surface is uneven. An associated mineral, with cleavage, likely enargite is also present in small amounts.
