Soddyite is a uranium silicate. The mineral name honors Frederick Soddy (1877-1956), British radiochemist. Schoep (1922) originally named the mineral soddite, which Wherry & Holden (1922) adjusted to soddyite when abstracting the original description.
Soddyite forms blocky crystals to 1.5 mm on matrix. From the collection of E.R. Laskowski (1949-2020), a mining engineer who retired to Tucson, Arizona.
