Stevensite after Pectolite - Sold

An oldtime specimen dating to 1938. Stevensite forms tan sprays to 2.3 cm on prehnite. Stevensite is a clay mineral, in particluar a smectite type species, itself replacing pectolite. The mineral name stevensite honors E.A. Stevens (1858-1918), architect and engineer, who founded of Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey (Chester, 1896). This specimen carries a label from Walter E. Kuenstler (1887-1969), and a collection card indicating "Casperson 9/10/38", which could be its source and acquisition date for Kuenstler.
